Two friends stand side by side in front of a phone, a voice goes "ba ba ba", and they start moving in sync. Then one steps out and the other solos, they swap, and they finish the routine together. Ba Ba Ba is the two-person TikTok dance of October 2026, and here's how to make a version starring you and a friend — or just you — from your photos, without learning a single step.
What is the Ba Ba Ba dance?
It's a two-person routine created by the dance creator @otr.j5, who posted it with a friend in a school library on 2 October 2026, captioned "Ba ba baa". The structure is what makes it fun: both dance side by side, each takes a solo, then both dance the rest in sync, all on a "ba ba ba" hook.
Through October duos picked it up everywhere and the sound was used hundreds of thousands of times. Our Ba Ba Ba template follows the moves and framing of @otr.j5's original. For the routine part by part and how the trend spread, see Ba Ba Ba dance: the routine and the trend.
How to make it
- Open the Ba Ba Ba template.
- Add photo 1: the dancer on the left.
- Add photo 2 (optional): the dancer on the right. Skip it and the template adds a friend for you.
- Pick a version and generate. Premium makes the whole 30-second routine; Balanced makes its 15-second in-sync part.
- Download and post. The MP4 already has the trend's sound on it, lined up from the first beat — tag your dance partner.
What happens in the video
- 0–4.5 s: you two side by side, close to the camera, hands moving on the beat.
- 4.5–11.5 s: photo 1 steps out and photo 2 solos: crossed arms, a point to the sky, a hip roll.
- 11.5–17.5 s: they swap — photo 1 jumps back in and takes the solo, mouthing the "ba ba ba".
- 17.5–30 s: back together for the rest of the routine, every move in sync, arms up to finish.
The 15-second Balanced version is the in-sync part only.
Photos that work best
- Show the whole body. It's a full-body dance, so a standing photo from head to knees or toes gives the best outfit and proportions.
- Faces sharp and forward. Eyes and mouth clearly visible, good light, no sunglasses.
- One person per photo. Two separate photos give each face the most detail.
- Pick your side. Photo 1 dances on the left and solos second; photo 2 on the right and solos first. Swap them before you generate if you want the other part.
- Ask first. Use your own photo and one of someone who said yes. Never a stranger, a child or a public figure.
Can I do it alone, or with my dog?
Alone, yes: upload just your photo and the template adds a friend as your partner, so you still get the duo, the swap and the solos. Pets aren't supported in this one — the routine is all hand moves and footwork. For pets, try Money Flex Dog.
What does it cost?
Premium makes the whole 30-second video: 55 credits at 480p, 120 at 720p and 205 at 1080p. Balanced makes the 15-second in-sync part from 15 credits. Each account's first full 480p video costs just 20 credits. Without an account, one video costs from $7.99 at checkout. No watermark, and failed renders are refunded automatically.
FAQ
Do I need to learn the dance? No. The video is generated from your photos: you two do the whole routine, solos included, without practicing.
What song is the Ba Ba Ba dance? The original post uses an original sound, credited on TikTok as "original sound". The template's video comes with that sound.
Do I need the CapCut app? No. The template runs in any browser: photos in, a vertical video with sound out.
Can I use one photo of us together? The template takes one photo per person. Crop a photo of you two into two photos if that's all you have.
